Final portfolio is due Saturday, Dec. 13 at noon, to be posted as a single post on your blog.
- Sample of an excellent portfolio from previous semester
- another portfolio on art theme.
- Family portfolio (she adapts cover letter part of assignment somewhat)
Introduce the portfolio with a memo about 500 words in length that discusses the portfolio pieces in terms of both process and product. For one of the essays explain your writing process, from
- brainstorming (what were the options you considered? why did you settle on the topic you chose?) to
- prewriting (how did you collect up info for the essay? what thinking and reading and writing and talking, etc. did you do?) to
- drafting (how did you write the first draft? how difficult or easy? how many sittings?) to
- receiving feedback (what feedback did you get?) to
- revising (how did you apply feedback? What other changes did you make?)
Then consider how each of the essays included demonstrates the development of your writing abilities. For each essay included in the portfolio, describe/point to and explain one particular part or aspect of the essay that demonstrates your ability to focus, develop, or organize your writing (you may also choose to write about your style and/or sense of personal voice).
Your portfolio should include three essays written this semester (full essays, not informal writing); one of them must be a final draft of Essay 4. I’d suggest giving descriptive titles to the essays, which will both better engage your reader and allow you to refer to the essays by name in your reflective introduction.
